How to Use the Figure-Eight SS/GS and Dielectric Strength
Member Messenger Cable Specifications Chart To Determine Weight
After
your desired cable construction is defined utilizing the chart,
calculate the weight adder of the messenger from the charts.
First, using the chart,
select the part number for the number of optical fibers required.
Then take the beginning cable weight from the next column
over. Finally, use one of the weight adder chartsfor
either SS/GS Messenger or Dielectric Strength Member Messengerto
find the weight adder for the type of messenger you have selected.
Add the weight adder to the beginning cable weight to obtain
the total cable weight.
Part
Number Example and Description M036-090X-W3EB/IUC/900-ESS=M-Series Messenger 36-fiber cable;
polyolefin outer jacket. The 62.5/125 optical fiber specification
is 3 dB/km and 200 MHz-km at 850 nm; 1 dB/km at 1,300 NM wavelength:
with a 900 µm buffer coated fiber. The cable has a part
number code of "E", 3/32" (2.4 mm) stainless
steel (SS) messenger; beginning cable weight of 65 kg/km (44
lbs/1,000); weight adder for messenger of 40 kg/km(27 lbs/1,000);
total cable weight of 105 kg/km (71 lbs/1,000')
Tight-buffer fiber optic cables meet the functional requirements of the following standards:
