RS-232, RS-449, RS-422 etc

Serial Data Transmission is the most common method of sending data from one DTE to another. Data is sent out in a stream, one bit at at time, over one channel.

When a computer is instructed to send data to another DTE, the data within the computer must pass through a serial interface to exist as serial data. Then it passes through the ports, cables, and connectors that link the various devices. The boundaries (physical, funtional, and electrical) shared by these devices are called interfaces.

Following are the common or standard wiring pinouts for Serial Data Transmission cables.

RS - 232
RS - 449
RS - 530
RS - 422
RS - 485
DB - 9
